John 'Meh'-er random thoughts...

yes this blog is about the john mayer concert i attended last week..and 'meh' is the proper way to describe the concert.

I was excited to go, thinking that he would be the kind of performer to give a lot of audience interaction and insight into the writing and emotions behind his music. well, dude just phoned it in on thursday night. I think the longest sentence i heard him say was 'this song has been very good to me, and i hope i've been good to it', when intro-ing 'your body is a wonderland'.

(which my sister and i have redubbed 'your-body-is-disneyland-and-i-just-wanna-ride-the-teacups...)

don't get me wrong, the concert was good musically. sonically. visually. but there wasnt any connection with the audience. a few girls at work who have seen him before said that he talked A LOT more when they when to his concerts previously and they werent impressed either (so its not just me...). one girl went as far to say that jessica simpson ruined him. i wouldnt go that far, but...

did you see the sketch on snl??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnlTMQMIlIk watch it! hilarious!

so would i pay to see him again? probably not. maybe $20 at a small club somewhere, but if he comes through again i wont subject rob to another concert. although he did keep himself amused by txting my sister all night...

And mr. mayer didnt even sing DAUGHTERS! or bigger than my body! or come back to bed....yeah, not a bad experience. just didnt leave a lasting impression....i rather would've seen lenny...

dang! why didnt i pony up the cash for that concert???????

todays thought...

"The city of Slaughter, Texas (population: 11,284), has never had a homicide occur within its boundaries."

interesting....

my dirty...dirty...weekend...

friday started out ok; work, inlaws, sister's and home...

saturday was a good time; workin in the yard, finding out new info about the former owner of our house (he mowed the lawn in a speedo! and he was old!), playing in the dirt in the flower beds, the man went and played poker with the boys while i stayed home and scrubbed floors and spring cleaned my house...

yeah i got my susie homemaker badge this weekend...

sunday was nice and relaxing; more yardwork, a bit of shopping and dinner at a friends parents house...

what? were you expecting something perverse! oh come on!!!! heehee

re: the speedo. yes the former owner used to wear a speedo while mowing the lawn. if you've seen our yard...well put it this way, we have more yard than house. the lot is 86ft x 168ft. To mow the lawn is 2.5km of walking. So b/c the former owner of our house was old, he couldnt cut the lawn all in one night resulting in numerous speedo sightings throughout the week. So the neighbours closing the blinds didnt help anything...

current exciting obsessions!

Just thought i havent written a 'current obsessions' list in a long time so here it is!

*installing the light in the back entrance tonight! yay!
*watching the snow melt in the backyard. i can see 95% of my lawn
*my new face cleanser scrub brush
*counting the days till we go on holidays
*palmers organic olive butter formula concentrated hand cream
*revlon cherry pop shiny sheers (red with out being killer!)
*the quest for the perfect ballet flat that i feel comfortable in (i'm beginning to think this could be an eternal quest. cant bring myself to wear flats. i feel too short!)
*to fake bake or not to fake bake (your opinions please!)
*trying to read wuthering heights...in the early stages...just cant seem to get into it...its my 'classic' read for the year...
*helping my parents pack up 35yrs of crap before they move into their new house. (90% needs to go in the garbage...sorry mom!)
*sad that i'm going to miss the delirious concert. but okay with it b/c i've seen them a few times already (you guys are going to have so much fun!)

I went to a really good conference last week. It was all about generational leadership and how each generation (baby boomers/genX/genY etc) lead and work in the workplace. It was presented by Dr. Liz Sayer from the Sayer Institute through the CWC (canadian women in communications). She took us through the DISC system last year, which i've done on a few previous occasions, and this one was kind of like the next level to understanding leadership. How leaders can understand their teammates thinking patterns and values through generational lines. Very cool. Cant wait to read the book we got 'the leadership challenge' by kouzes & posner. When john maxwell calls the book "one of the five best books i have ever read. i continually recommend it to others" you know it's gotta be good!

Can't wait for Maximum Impact in a few weeks! woo hoo!

Today's amazing (but true) fact:

Human tonsils can bounce higher than a rubber ball of similar weight and size, but only for the first 30 minutes after they've been removed.

I still have my tonsils....is that weird???

off to watch the snow melt...
