wisdom, baggage and the fine line between...

A few days ago I was posed the question ‘what is relationship baggage?’. After thinking about it for a while I responded with ‘relationship baggage is anything negative you’re not willing to let go of for fear of who you’ll be with out it.’. Which got me to thinking…

What is relationship wisdom?

I came to the conclusion that relationship wisdom is the positive knowledge and experience you gain and use from any kind of relationship. By positive knowledge I mean how you look at and handle the situation. You can look at what’s happened and say ‘I’m never doing that again’ but repeat it over and over and over again, or you can say ‘How did I get there? What triggered that? Why do I keep doing that’ and work to find the solution. I believe it was George Santayana who said ‘those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it’, meaning, if you don’t learn from your mistakes you won’t move past them…

It’s all perspective…
