an update and current obsessions list....

ok, its been a while...a very loooooooooooong while. so long that i've switched jobs, got pregnant, lost a parent, had my baby and he's now 7.5 months old!


yeah, bad blogger!

So yeah, i guess i'm deciding to get back into this whole 'blogging' thing. am i a nerd? i heard a rumour that only nerds blog...so i guess i'm a nerd (as well as the rest of the blogging community). So in honour of restarting my blog I thought I'd start with the current obsessions list...something easy and painless (i think!). In random order

1. LIE TO ME (not literally, its a tv show). Monday nights after house. its a great tv show! check it out!
2. Finding a new paint colour for our bedroom. we recently replaced the windows and due to the sizes i need to repaint (oh darn!). Cant wait till i get the go ahead from the budgeter! haha!
3. taking daily pictures of my precious babe. still cant believe i'm a mommy!
4. selling avon! yes, i've become an avon representative. just a little something extra to add onto my plate. they've got great products and if only my sister orders she'll keep me employed! hahaha!
5. nike socks. i have nike socks for women and they are so comfy! i only have 2 pairs so 5 days out of the week my feet are sad :(. they are the best things ever!
6. GLEE! oh glee how i love thee! best show on tv! super fun :)
7. Guitar Hero World Tour. I've become obsessed ever since we had people over last month. i wake up in the middle of the night with a sore hand because i've played so much that day (that sounds kind of perverted...i mean from holding the guitar nerds!). Dont worry i only play while the babe is napping...
8. my fabulous new dining room light fixture. after being in this house for 3+ years i finally have something other than a bare bulb hanging in my dining room. beautiful chandelier with a drum shade. LOVE IT!

and thats about it for now....dont want to hurt myself on my first blog back!

25 things i learned on my vacation...

1. leaving early from work on the day of your vacation makes everything that much sweeter.
2. GPS is from God. seriously.
3. Trust your instincts when booking hotels online or you'll wind up with either someone trying to get into your room at 2am or at a time share...
4. Atlanta was surprisingly beautiful. Nashville was a DUMP!
5. Driving thru the appalacian mountians is fine during the daytime. quite the opposite at night. imagine 4 lanes of interstate traffic, all going 80mph at a 6% incline with semi's on either side of you. the runaway truck ramps were a little ominous...
6. The interstate looks like one big city from Chattanooga to Orlando...
7. Even if the hurricane advisory is for southern florida and waaaaay off the coast of orlando, you will still get high winds and rain as it passes by.
8. Florida roads + rain = winnipeg streets in the winter. NO TRACTION!
9. not everything is cheaper in the states.
10. i'm now addicted to dasani vitamin water...pomegranate blackberry flavor. but why does it have no calories in the states and up here theres 5 calories per bottle?
11. in the northern states there are casinos everywhere just off the interstate. In the south its nudie truck stops...apparently they BARE ALL...and have GIANT billboards telling you that every 5 miles.
12. Did i mention GPS is from God?
13. Universal Studios is awesome. but i will say that i have never seen so many gay men and lesbians in one place at one time. apparently the saturday we went was possibly 'gay day'. seriously. no word of a lie...
14. robs the shopper...not me. SHOCKING! we went to the outlet mall and i bought flip flops. seriously. flip flops. what the heck???!!?!?
15. but i can always find something in womens home depot....SEPHORA! i got my eyelash curler! yay! and a few other things...
16. give a teenager a year to grow and he'll grow....hes a young man now! and his brothers arent far behind him!
17. no matter where you go, you can always run into someone from your hometown.

19. i can acclimate to florida temperatures pretty fast...
20. i cant go back to watching a hockey game the same way again...i've been spoiled...

current summer obsessions

just scrolling through my blog and realizing i haven't done a current obessions list in quite a while! so sit down, relax and check out what i'm crazy about right now...

1. facebook (um...who isnt?)
2. harvesting the cucumbers in my back yard. i go out there every day after i get home from work to check on them. cant wait till the cantalopes yeild! yay! i can grow stuff!
3. finding a paint colour for our house. yes we have to paint. damn woodpeckers pecked a few holes in the siding so now we have to paint. its all good though. i'd been trying to convince rob to paint this summer and now we have to! i've chosen benjamin moore 'nighttrain' as the colour for the siding with black licorice for the trim.
4. peaches. cases of peaches. bought a case last week and they're almost gone. but you've gotta get the bc ones. support the canadian industry!
5. pomegrante green tea. yummy.
6. peter gabriel 'solsbury hill'. old school but sooooo good!
7. john c. maxwell 'talent is never enough'. just started reading it yesterday and it is soooooo good!
8. weeding on the weekends. just something about digging in the dirt that relaxes me. as long as i have bug spray on its all good.
9. going curly. i dont think i've straightened my hair all summer and i'm completely fine with it. its so much easier to do with the humidity.
10. chillin with my sister in the back yard of my house. we grab her dog, turn on the sprinkler and enjoy whats left of the summer. sooo yummy!
11. folklorama! for people who've never been, we've been to A LOT of pavillions this year. so much fun! taking mom to the african/caribbean pavillion tonight. gonna eat jerk chicken and get mom drunk on rum punch! its her birthday today!
12. palmers cocoa butter body oil. shoppers used to carry this product but havent for about a year. found it in a specialty food store in the 'ghetto' with my sister and am so excited! if your skin is EXTREMELY dry try this stuff. because it has no mineral oils it is absorbed (mineral oils dont, they just sit on top of your skin) and your skin feels like silk and smells like chocolate! yumma!
13. playing with my in-laws new hd video camera. chancho has got a lot of facetime on that thing!
